English for Finance (FIN101)
English has become the common language of communication in the world today and in Japan, more and more public institutions and organizations are encouraging employees to use English in the workplace. As well, there has been a surge in the number of visitors to Japan in the past few years, and even more tourists will come for the Tokyo Olympics event in 2020. Japanese financial institutions can take advantage of these major events. This course is designed for those who would like to become comfortable with English terminology used in the banking and finance industry. In this course, you will learn how to handle customer needs and describe banking products and services in English. You will also learn how to talk about subjects such as foreign currency transactions, stock markets, and tax returns.
Johan Saputra Muljadi holds an MA in TESOL from the University of Sunderland and a Post-graduate Certificate in TEAP (Teaching English for Academic Purposes from the University of Leicester. He is an active JALT member and has presented at JALT Conference and published papers for Speakeasy journals (Gunma Prefecture) and The School House - The Publication of the JALT Teaching Younger Learners SIG. He has extensive experience in teaching both adults and young learners. In his free time, he enjoys playing chess at a cafe, watching movies and writing an academic paper.
