This course is an introductory course on Software design where students will learn about: 1) The role and importance of Software design in the entire System Development Life Cycle (SDLC); 2) Different approaches (Agile, Waterfall, Unified Process) available for Design; 3) How to design the software using visual unified modeling language (UML) and implement it using Java programming; and 4) How the design influences software implementation, testing, deployment, maintenance and the overall cost of the software product.

By end of this course, students will have a good understanding about why and how to do design before implementation of the software application, which can appeal to users' requirements at a lower cost.
