This course provides an examination of how culture shapes and influences business processes. Special attention is given to the history, political and economic systems, religions, social values, and geography in select regions and countries. An inter-disciplinary approach combining theory with practical case analysis will be used. Participants will develop the skills to leverage cultural differences for positive advantage and reduce miscommunication, gain self-awareness of their own cultural profile, and increase their knowledge of several cultures using tools such as gap analysis, matrix analysis, and code-switching. This material would be especially useful if you are working in a Japan-based international company, planning on working overseas, hiring international staff, or regularly liaising with teams abroad.
