This course is designed for medical professionals seeking to improve their organizational management capabilities. It provides leadership and direction to organizations that deliver personal health services, and to divisions, departments, units, or services within those organizations. After an introduction to key management principles and organizational theory, the course focuses on organizational strategy, the management of change and improvement, leadership development, and human resource management. By the end of the course, participants should be able to understand the key principles of management; describe their applications in health system organizations; present specific approaches to drive strategy, change, and improvement; and to successfully deal with ongoing issues and challenges in managing human resources and patientcare. No prior background in management is required to take this course.
