Leadership is critical for success in organizations and in leading and managing teams. It is needed at all levels, not only at the top. One definition of leadership is: "Motivating, organizing and influencing a group of people to achieve a common goal." Some say leaders are born; however, we all possess leadership traits. Amongst other qualities, effective leaders possess conceptual skills and social influence, have clear vision and values, demonstrate consistent behaviors and communicate well. To be effective, these traits and abilities must be cultivated. Through discussion, interactive assignments and lecture by a seasoned practitioner of leader development, this course helps you acquire the knowledge, perspectives, orientations, skills, tools and practical actions needed to lead effectively.
Hayato Yasuzawa is a bilingual MBA and executive coach with 20 years' experience in HR management including compensation and benefit, recruiting, talent management and employee relations. He earned his MBA degree from George Washington University, and LLB from Ritsumeikan University. He is also a graduate of The Columbia Coaching Certification program, Teachers College Columbia University.
He served for 6 years as Group General Manager-HR of North Asia region for one of the world's biggest dairy companies. Before that, he was previously a management consultant at Deloitte Consulting and HR strategy consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has also worked as a learning and development manager for a global pharmaceutical company.
With front-line business experience closely working with both Japanese and foreign senior executives in global companies, he deeply understands the challenges to make a balance between the representation of local markets while meeting requirements from Global Headquarters. He has been working closely with lawyers to mitigate the risks of labor issues in companies. He is very passionate to develop strong HR professionals and business leaders who are keen on creating "a great place to work" for employees in their respective companies.
