Course Details
Whether you have worked in business for years or are brand new, having a well-rounded knowledge of all aspects of business is important for managers in well-informed decision- making. This course is designed for students with little or no prior business knowledge. It is an overview of major topics in business ranging from economics to trade and financial management to marketing and motivation. It provides an introduction and perspective on the major functions of business and applies common business tasks such as conducting a SWOT analysis, market segmentation and determining target markets, assessing motivation, and calculating financial ratios to determine the health of a company. Students engage in two very interactive and collaborative assignments designed to reinforce course content. This course is a prerequisite for students who do not possess any business background and are interested in obtaining a business-related certificate. Students who have a basic, foundational knowledge of business are encouraged to enroll in MBA200 over BUS101.
