What was the most memorable thing(s) about TUJ from when you were a student?

I joined the program at a time I needed it the most. As a professional educator I had many unanswered questions about how to teach effectively particularly to Japanese adult learners. TUJ always gave me the most practical approaches backed by sound theory to enable me to be a great educator. I truly enjoyed every class.

How has the education you received at TUJ been helping you in your career or your life in general?

Having a master's degree opened up many doors for me. I transitioned out of classroom instruction years ago to focus on education management and organizational development. My degree was definitely a factor in getting my foot in the door as well as Temple University name.

Looking at TUJ now, what do you think has changed or stayed the same at TUJ since your student days?

The tradition and strong value in quality education has not changed. It is the cornerstone of TUJ. What has changed? I would say a stronger focus on online education and continuing education for adults. Given the current economy people are always in transition and TUJ is stronger at helping adults retool to meet the demands of this new economy.

How do you see the future of TUJ?

TUJ's future needs to embrace the power of social media to build a stronger community of perspective students, current students, and graduates/alums. I have lost touch with TUJ over the past few years. I would like to see a stronger connection and social media is a great way to do this.
