Temple University is a large, well-known, highly respected comprehensive public research university located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1884, the university is today one of the nation's leading centers of professional education. Temple University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, which accredits colleges and universities in the eastern part of the United States. This accreditation includes Temple's campus in Japan and assures that the university maintains high-quality academic programs internationally.

In 1982, Temple offered its first graduate courses in Japan, courses leading to the degree of Master of Education in English Education (currently Master of Science in Education) with a concentration in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).

College of Education and Human Development

Temple University's College of Education and Human Development, founded in 1919, is one of the largest schools of education in the United States and a national center for excellence in both teaching and research. Graduate programs at the master's and doctoral levels prepare students for teaching and also for careers as school administrators, counselors, school psychologists, researchers, policymakers and professors of education.

Temple's TESOL Program is located within the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Technology in Education (CITE) in the College of Education.

Information about Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ), the oldest and largest American university in Japan. Including participants in Corporate Education programs and English training programs for educational organizations, TUJ is a home to around 4,000 learners. Also, it was the first Foreign University, Japan Campus recognized by the Japanese government.
