High School Summer Program

TUJ invites high school students from around the world to come experience the best of modern and traditional Japan with our summer program. Participants will improve their language skills and cultural awareness through a combination of in-class instruction, excursions and events with local Japanese students. Structured activities are balanced with free time for exploring in small groups. The language classes and overnight excursions also give participants a sneak peek at what attending TUJ as a university student will be like.

Program Details

• 4 days of Japanese language classes at TUJ's campus in Tokyo
• 3-day cultural excursion to Kanazawa
• 1-day excursion to Tokyo DisneySea
• Combined events with Japanese high school students
• 1 free day to explore Tokyo
• A combination of professional staff and current TUJ student support on all activities

Both beginner and intermediate Japanese language instruction will be offered. No Japanese ability is required to attend the program.

Many nationalities qualify for a visa exemption and do not need a visa for short-term stays in Japan. Nationalities not included in the list below on the MOFA website must apply for a visa. Please contact us for details.

Program Cost

159,000 yen
(10,000 yen registration fee + 149,000 yen program fee)
Includes 10 nights accommodation, all meals, program-related transportation and entrance fees to all program-related events. Does not include airfare to and from Japan.

Non-refundable 10,000 yen registration fee due within one month of acceptance to the program.
149,000 yen program fee due June 1, 2012.

About Registration
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. To apply, all participants must submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher and provide health information. The program fee is non-refundable after June 1, 2012.
