Transfer to Other Temple Campuses
Matriculated full-time students at the Japan campus of Temple University who meet certain academic minimum requirements may apply for transfer to study at the main campus at any time. But transfer for the intensive summer sub-sessions at the main campus is discouraged, except for advanced students.
Every year, many students transfer from Tokyo to Philadelphia and from Philadelphia to Tokyo. Some Japanese students wish to go to the United States to improve their English language ability, and some American students wish to immerse themselves in Japanese language and cultural studies. Some students transfer to the main campus to pursue broad majors or particular subjects that are not offered at the Japan campus.
To transfer to the main campus, a student must attend a series of mandatory orientations, complete an Intra-University Transfer (IUT) form, and have the form approved by the director of the TUJ Academic Advising Center. A completed and approved form is necessary to move from one college or school within the university to another or from one campus to another.
Most colleges within Temple University require that the student is matriculated and full-time and has a minimum GPA of 2.0 or higher to effect a transfer. Students transferring from the Japan campus must have completed English C050, or the equivalent, to qualify for transfer. Some Temple colleges and programs have additional or more stringent admission requirements, such as portfolios, auditions, additional coursework, higher grade standards, etc. All transfers must be approved by the TUJ Academic Advising Center.
For more detailed information, the student should seek the counsel of the international advisor in the Academic Advising Center.
