How to Determine Gen Ed or Core

Students admitted to TUJ in and after Fall 2009 will follow General Education requirements explained below, and others admitted in Summer 2009 or before will follow the Core requirements. Please see the following for more detailed information.


Students who will follow Gen Ed Requirements

  • Students admitted between Fall 2009 and Summer 2010 with high school graduation date in calendar year of 2009 and 2010, regardless the number of transfer credits (0-90 transfer credits)
  • Students admitted between Fall 2009 and Summer 2010 with high school graduation date in calendar year of 2008 or earlier with 14 or less transfer credits
  • All students admitted in Fall 2010 or later regardless high school graduation date or number of transfer credits

Students who will follow Core Requirements

  • All students admitted in Summer 2009 or earlier
  • Students admitted between Fall 2009 and Summer 2010 with high school graduation date in calendar year of 2008 or earlier with 15 or more transfer credits

Gen Ed and University Core Equivalency Table

Effective Fall 2010, Gen Ed students are no longer allowed to take University Core courses to satisfy their Gen Ed requirements.

Note:
Core students with a remaining Core requirement may take a corresponding Gen Ed course to satisfy the requirement.
