Intra University Transfer (IUT)

Intra-University Transfer (IUT) from TUJ to the Main Campus

Intra-University Transfer (IUT) denotes a student's movement from one academic unit within the university to another and/or from one campus to another.

Matriculated full-time students at TUJ who meet certain academic minimum requirements may apply for transfer to study at Temple's Main Campus. It is always recommended that students transfer either in Fall or Spring semester and a transfer for the intensive summer sessions at Main Campus is discouraged, except for advanced students.

Students must register to transfer between Main Campus and TUJ. Students should check Intra-University Transfer (IUT) section of the Semester Information (when available) for a particular sign-up period. The Academic Advising Center (AAC) sends an announcement via e-mail every semester as well.

In order to register for IUT to Main Campus, students must satisfy the following criteria. Students must:

  • Be matriculated and enrolled at TUJ when they sign-up for IUT;
  • Have passed (C- or better) English composition 0802/0812 (1002/1012), or the equivalent;
  • Have completed full-time course work (12 credits per semester) for at least one semester (semester GPA 2.00 or better);
  • Have maintained a cumulative GPA 2.00 or better;
  • Obtain a semester GPA of 2.00 at the end of the semester in which they sign up for IUT.

Students may initiate transfer from one college of the university to another if they are in good academic standing, holding a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. In addition to GPA requirements, the Tyler School of Art has portfolio requirements and the Esther Boyer College of Music and Dance has audition requirements.
