Reasons Why Students Choose TUJ

Students at TUJ enjoy the diversity of a multicultural educational environment, a full English-language curriculum with credits and degrees awarded by a major American university, and the privileges that come from being part of the Japanese educational system.

True Temple education in Japan

TUJ maintains the high academic standards and requirements of Temple University in Philadelphia, which is the 28th largest university out of over 4,000 universities in the U.S. and is the country's largest public university provider of professional programs (law, business, medicine, and pharmacy, etc.). A degree earned at TUJ is exactly the same as one from Temple University, so you can receive a prestigious American bachelor's degree while living in Japan.

Unique international environment

About half of TUJ's students are non-Japanese, and they bring diverse cultural perspectives to TUJ's campus life and classroom discussions. Attracted by TUJ's cosmopolitan location, students from the United States, Canada, and all parts of Asia, Russia, the Middle East, and Europe develop the intercultural communication skills that are essential for global success in any career.

Student-centered university

TUJ operates on a trimester system that allows flexibility in enrollment scheduling. With 10 majors, TUJ also offers more academic options than any other university with an English-based curriculum in Japan, and TUJ students can also choose from more than 130 majors at Main Campus. An average class size of 20 means that TUJ instructors can provide a high level of personal attention and support to each student.

Gateway to the world

Temple campuses in Philadelphia and Rome, short-term programs in the U.K., France, Germany, Costa Rica, India, and other countries—are open to TUJ students, and credits earned at any of these locations can be applied to a Temple degree. Moreover, the Tokyo campus is the perfect choice for those who wish to study Asian/Japanese business and culture.

Preparation for your future

Students can gain hands-on experience and earn up to eight credits through internships at domestic and multinational companies in Tokyo. With strong demand from various sectors, TUJ students find work in major companies such as Apple Japan, Bank of America, Delloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Hilton Tokyo, and General Electric, to mention just a few.
