The Experience You'll Have

A unique academic experience is one important aspect of learning at TUJ. But the opportunity to gain firsthand understanding of the world's cultures and languages is another important aspect. TUJ provides you with many such opportunities.

Festivals!

The International Festival is a major campus event rich in cultural diversity. Every autumn, students from around the world present ethnic dances and foods from their native country. Another popular event is the annual Halloween party, celebrated the American way by dressing up in scary or humorous costumes.

Language Exchange

At TUJ, language exchange takes place both formally and informally during lunch, between classes, and after class. Students from over 40 countries gather to become acquainted, develop their language skills, and learn about other cultures.

Cultural Exchange Events

Cultural exchange events held throughout the year foster friendship and deepen interaction among students and professors. In addition to fun activities like BBQ parties, there are tours that introduce the aspects of traditional Japanese culture such as cherry-blossom viewing.

NextFrame Film Festival

Founded in 1993 at Temple University in Philadelphia, NextFrame is an international student film festival that offers a gateway to success for aspiring directors and others involved in movie making. Unlike traditional film festivals, NextFrame award-winners embark on a yearlong international tour. TUJ Communications students are the main organizers of the Japanese showing.

ICAS Lecture Series

TUJ hosts the ICAS (Institute of Contemporary Asian Studies) Lecture Series, in which prominent scholars present their work, addressing social and political issues related to Japan and Asia.
