Associate Professor Carr's expertise include, broadcast production and programming, writing for theater and film and documentary videography.

Teaching Interests

Post-WWII American Cold War cinema, with emphasis on narrative and genre studies, and American social and cultural movements and its representation through theater and film. Performance related interests include experimental theater, locative media and audio design.

Professional and Creative Work

Associate Professor Carr first started working in broadcasting at age 19. His professional credits include KABC in Los Angeles, where he produced live news, sports and public affairs programming. Bud Furrillo, Michael Jackson, Ray Briem, Al Downing and Bill Jenkins are some of the former hosts Associate Professor Carr has worked with. Sample credits include "Sports Talk", "The Michael Jackson Show", "Open Mind", "The Ray Briem Show" and "Dodger Talk". Other credits include news director, announcer and host. Associate Professor Carr has also written for theater in Los Angeles, published film and theater reviews, and produced exhibitions and performance pieces for arts festivals and galleries.

Research

Associate Professor Carr is presently investigating "New Media" and its potential in documenting communities through the use of Podcasting and other wireless technologies, and a critical approach to the role of the internet in shaping our ideological and political perceptions of real events and citizens.
