About the Event
The lecture originates from a prior request by an economist from the Japanese Cabinet Office to Dr. Duignan, to highlight key elements in the dramatic birth and rapid growth of the Celtic Tiger Irish economy, previously one of the poorest EU countries. We will briefly review these factors in the Asian context. The lecture will be highly practical and will compare fields like the healthcare sector, financial services industry and IT development. We will also cover important wider themes such as rising immigration and EU integration difficulties. As Dr. Duignan monitors the Chinese Economy for the ECB, China will be an added element to the Asian comparative analysis. The principal goal is to provide some Ireland insights that can be applied to the broader Asian economic canvass. Please note the audience will contain several Irish experts so the discussion session will be particularly interesting and interactive.
