The Tyler School of Art of Temple University (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is one of the best art schools in the United States. At the exhibition, drawings of three art professors will be shown: Charles Schmidt, a Tyler drawing and painting professor, and Sarah Steinwachs and McDavid Henderson, who are former students of Schmidt. The event is to be held this summer while professors Steinwachs and Henderson visit Temple University, Japan Campus to teach art courses. The project became possible with the support of Ms Fujiko Komatsu, an artist and art teacher who is also Schmidt's former student at Tyler.
Sarah Steinwachs
Sarah Steinwachs received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting from Tyler School of Art, Temple University, Philadelphia Pennslvania, U.S.A in 1994. She received her Master of Fine Art in Painting from Yale University, New Haven Connecticut, U.S.A in 1997. Since graduating Sarah Steinwachs has been a professor of art at Drexel University in Philadlephia. She teaches two-dimensional, and three-dimensional design, color theory, painting and drawing. Ms. Steinwachs also continues to make her own work consisting of paintings and drawings. They are exhibited in the U.S.A. This summer, (and in 2004) Ms. Steinwachs is teaching painting and design at Temple University, Japan Campus in Tokyo.
McDavid Henderson
McDavid Henderson received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in illustration from Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island, U.S.A in 1992. He received his Master of Fine Art in painting from Tyler School of Art, Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S. A. in 1995. Since graduating McDavid Henderson has resided in Philadelphia, working as a free-lance illustrator. Some of his clients include Sony Music, Motown, Newsweek, American Prospect Magazine, New Yorker Magazine, Simon and Schuster, Henry Holt Book Publisher, DDB Kid Think. Mr. Henderson is also a professor at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia where he teaches drawing. This summer Mr. Henderson is teaching computer illustration at Temple University, Japan Campus in Tokyo.
Charles Schmidt
Charles Schmidt received his Bachelor of Fine Art in painting from Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, U.S.A in 1960. He received his Master of Fine Art in painting from Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, U.S.A. in 1967. Mr. Schmidt is a master calligrapher, and worked as one in the White House during the Kennedy Administration in 1961-1962. Mr. Schmidt is also a professor at Tyler School of the Art in Philadelphia where he teaches drawing and painting.
