For Immediate Release
Tokyo, September 18, 2003—Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ) is
pleased to announce that TUJ’s Corporate Education will host
the Professional Development Series. The link is a natural one given
that the Corporate Education program and Professional Development
Series share the aim of sharpening the professional skills of business
executives. The series is scheduled to commence at TUJ on Tuesday,
September 30th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with “The Art of Successful
Sales” presented by TUJ’s Dr. Akihiro Sumitomo.
The Professional Development Series will thereafter be held on
a monthly basis, with speakers and topics carefully chosen for their
excellence, expertise, and topical relevance. Audiences will gain
a global business perspective that dispels traditional myths and
enhances their practical knowledge and understanding of international
commerce and managerial skills. Future speakers include Dr. Robert
M. Orr, Jr., President of Boeing Japan, who is also a member of
Temple University, Japan Campus’s Board of Governors.
The September speaker Dr. Akihiro Sumitomo is a TUJ Corporate Education
advisor and instructor. Formerly Managing Director of Nihon Siber
Hegner and President of Mannatech, Dr. Sumitomo is also President
of Gingu Incorporated, a company specializing in management coaching
and consulting for Japanese and Western corporate executives, expatriates,
business owners, and entrepreneurs who seek a high level of business
success in Japan and abroad.
Corporate Education is an important extension of TUJ’s role
as an institution of higher learning. The program was established
in 1996, and more than 30 global enterprises, including Citigroup
Services (Japan) Ltd., NEC Corporation, Hitachi Ltd., Itochu Corporation,
and Boeing Japan, currently benefit from its results-oriented training
courses. What distinguishes TUJ’s Corporate Education is how
it uniquely taps the full spectrum of TUJ’s educational resources.
By drawing on every aspect of TUJ’s offerings, a thorough
needs assessment is conducted and the program is then tailored to
suit the particular training requirements of client companies, with
customized classes and flexible schedules. Courses can be conducted
in either English or Japanese to maximize learning potential, and
synergies with other TUJ programs such as the EMBA, law, IT programs
are exploited to the advantage of a broad spectrum of corporations
and organizations. The Professional Development Series adds another
dimension to the program.
