NextFrame is one of the premiere student film and video festivals
in the United States. It annually invites film and video submissions
from students at accredited educational institutions and conservatories
worldwide for evaluation by a U.S. panel of experts. Emphasizing
narrative, innovation and technique, NextFrame premieres its selections
at the annual conference of the University Film & Video Association
(UFVA), which is held at a different university campus every year.
Following the premiere, final selections begin a yearlong global
tour. Screenings take place at universities, museums, art centers,
and other venues around the world, fulfilling NextFrame’s
aim of allowing young film and video makers to express their visions
internationally and of exposing audiences worldwide to up-and-coming
talent.
NextFrame was founded in 1993 by a graduate student in Film and
Media Arts department at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
By the year of 2000, the festival received in excess of 500 entries
from more than 30 nations. NextFrame’s past participants include
nominees of the Academy Awards.
