Request or Hold Materials Online

For TUJ Students and Faculty

Students and faculty at Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ), should follow the instructions below to request or hold materials from the TUJ library online. After receiving your request, we will pull the materials and send the items to your center location (Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka). If you have any problems using the Online Catalog, please contact us.


For Outside Users

If you are not associated with TUJ but would like to borrow books that you locate in the Online Catalog, please make note of the title and call number and contact your local library (your affiliated university or public library) and request that they borrow the materials for you.


Requesting or Holding Materials
Using Online Catalog

To request or hold materials using Online Catalog, please follow the procedures below.

  1. Use the 'Search' function to locate the titles you wish to request or hold. Note that there are three search styles that you can experiment with: basic, advanced, power.
  2. When you locate the titles you wish to use, add them to your list using the "Add to my list" button. Do not use the "Request Item" button.
  3. When you have selected all of the items you wish the library to hold for you, go to the top of the page and click on the "My List" button. The catalog will display all of the items you have selected.
  4. Click on the "Email this list" button.
  5. The catalog will display a page like below.
  6. Click on the "Plain Text" bullet for "Format."
  7. Type your name, home center location (Tokyo, Osaka, or Fukuoka), and e-mail address in the subject line. If you do not provide this information, we will not know how to identify your request.
  8. Type tuj-library@temple.edu in the "Email to" box. The page should now look like this:
  9. Click the "Send" button.
  10. You will receive an e-mail response from the library confirming that we have received your request and the status of the items you have requested. If you do not receive a confirmation from the library within one business day, please contact the library.
