You must have your laptop inspected by the Computer Center to get access to the wireless network. The Computer Center staff will be available during New Student Orientation to inspect laptops. Grades are posted on the bulletin board in the Law Office after all grades are reported. You may also check your grades using OWLnet. It usually takes about one month for data to be uploaded by the registrar on Main Campus.

Q6.

What courses are required for the General LL.M. Program (a.k.a. LL.M. for International Lawyers)?
A9.

The General LL.M. Program (a.k.a. LL.M. for International Lawyers) has one required course: Legal Research and Writing. In addition, students must complete a thesis project, which may be done as an independent study or in the context of a writing seminar. Legal Research and Writing is offered at least once a year in Japan (generally the fall semester).

Q10.
What courses are required for the LL.M. in Transnational Law?
A10.

The survey course in International Law (3 credits) is a pre-requisite for the degree. If a student has not already taken this course, it should be taken early in the LL.M. program. In addition to International Law, students must take 24 credits of international or comparative law electives, including a thesis project. The thesis project may be done as a guided research or in the context of a writing seminar. If students did not complete their first degree in law in Japan, they may complete the entire degree at our Tokyo campus.

Q11.
Do I have to write a thesis or any other papers?
A11.

Yes, both LL.M. programs require that you write a scholarly paper in English. This is usually done as part of a writing seminar course or an independent study research project supervised by a faculty member.
