Application Deadlines

Students may commence their studies at our Tokyo campus at the start of any semester.
Application deadlines for admission into our law programs in Japan are as follows:

Summer Semester:
May 1
Fall Semester:
August 1
Spring Semester:
December 1

Note:
Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis, so early applications are encouraged. Late applications may be accepted in limited circumstances. If you feel your situation warrants special consideration, please contact the Law Office.

Applicants from outside Japan

Temple cannot sponsor visas for students in the Pre-LL.M. Admissions program. If you wish to commence your studies in Tokyo, you must be enrolled as a full-time LL.M., Certificate, or J.D. Semester Abroad student.

If you are interested in applying for one of the Certificate programs from outside of Japan, you will need to submit your application one month before the regular deadlines to allow additional time necessary to process a student visa.

For more details about student visas, please contact our Tokyo Office.

English Proficiency - TOEFL

All non-native English speakers who did not study at a university where English was the medium of instruction must take the TOEFL exam and have the official score reported directly to Temple University, Japan Campus. Generally, a score of at least 230 points on computer-based exam (570 on the paper-based exam) is required for admission.

Students who are otherwise academically qualified, but fall slightly below the desired TOEFL score, may be required to have a personal interview and engage in English language training as a precondition of admission.
