This course introduces effective business writing techniques to meet the writing needs of working professionals. Writing assignments appropriate to different levels of management will include information gathering and research techniques, progress reports, proposals, and executive summaries.

Instructor: Michael Sorey
Michael Sorey has an MA in Teaching English as a Second and Foreign Language from the University of Illinois. He has lived in Japan for over 27 years. For 19 of those years he worked in the Corporate Training Department of the American International Group-Japan (AIG) where he taught business writing, business presentation skills, and other communication skills courses.

Currently he teaches reading and writing classes in the English Department of Hakuoh University in Tochigi Prefecture. Michael's teaching career has taken him to many countries. Before coming to Japan he worked as an English teacher in Morocco, Iran, and Spain, as well as in the USA.

Michael and his Japanese wife, Hisako, live in Saitama-ken. His bilingual daughter, Lisa, is a university student in Seattle. For the past 12 years, Michael has been active in Toastmasters International, which is an organization dedicated to helping people develop their public speaking and communication skills.
