Jeremy Rubier Wins First Prize in Swadesh DeRoy Scholarship

TUJ student Jeremy Rubier won first prize in the Swadesh DeRoy Scholarship for 2009-2010, a competition sponsored by the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan (FCCJ). Jeremy's documentary video "New Media vs. Old Media in Japan," which looks into the media choices of young people in Japan today and the decline of newspapers, was chosen from 24 entries (19 essays, 1 photo story, 4 videos). Jeremy received a scholarship of ¥300,000 to further his entry into journalism. (Read more)

TUJ MBA Alumni Association Annual Gala

The TUJ MBA Alumni Association will hold their annual Gala, raising a ¥500,000 scholarship for a current student, and provide networking opportunities for alumni and current MBA students. The Gala will be on Saturday, June 12th at the New Sanno Hotel in Hiroo.

The keynote speaker will be Thomas Whitson, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan. Raffle prizes include airline tickets to Hawaii and Fiji, hotel stays, restaurant vouchers, and more. Admission is ¥10,000 per person. Cash bar. Business Attire.

Career Development Office provides services to alumni

TUJ Career Development holds a variety of seminars and workshops every semester. They are open to not only current students, but also all TUJ alumni. Visit our website for the summer 2010 schedule.

The Career Development Office also provides career counseling and resources to alumni of TUJ's undergraduate and graduate degree programs, such as MBA, Law, and TESOL. To make an appointment for career counseling, please contact us.


TUJ looks for new Dorm Managers for its Undergraduate Programs

TUJ is looking for new Dorm Managers for two of its housing facilities based in Jiyuugaoka (Meguro Ward) and Takadanobaba (Shinjuku Ward).

The Dorm Manager is the university's primary representative at student housing, and serves as a liaison between students, facility owners, and university administrators. Specific duties at the dorm include monitoring student behavior, student check-in & check-out at the beginning and end of each semester, and enforcing the University's Code of Conduct.

Although permitted to work another job, the Dorm Manager is expected to remain at the housing facility during evenings and on weekends. The Dorm Manager is also expected to organize his or her schedule around the university semester schedule.

There is no salary, but the Dorm Managers will receive free-housing at a university housing facility for a period of at least 2 years.

Applicants should be proficient in English and Japanese and be flexible enough to move to other university dorm facilities as the need arises.
