TUJ Alumni Reunite in Tokyo

Alumni enjoyed food, reminiscing and some casual networking.

Waiting in line at the Philly cheese steak wagon.

Approximately 150 TUJ alumni, faculty and guests gathered on October 26 for TUJ's 25th Anniversary Special Alumni Reunion at the Sheraton Miyako Hotel in Shirogane. The night featured plenty of friendly mixing, raffle prizes, and even a "taste of TUJ home" as two chefs served up fresh Philly cheese steaks. One notable aspect of the evening was the Alumni Association's first-ever election. Alumni attending cast their ballots for six Executive Committee positions in 2008: president, vice-president, treasurer, and three executive member slots. We hope to announce the results in the next issue of TUJ Times Online.

On November 6, U.S. Ambassador J. Thomas Schieffer hosted a reception at the Ambassador's Residence to celebrate TUJ's 25th anniversary. Among the more than 100 guests on hand were many powerful supporters of TUJ, including members of TUJ Board of Governors, officials from MEXT and Minato City, contributors, and key clients. A Main Campus delegation that included President Hart and Dr. Solomon Luo of the Temple University Board of Trustees also flew in for the event.

Fall 2007 Career Fair Proves Most Successful Ever

TUJ students tune in as Dean Patterson makes his welcoming remarks at the Career Fair.

Over 70 sharply dressed TUJ graduating students and graduates met some of Tokyo's largest and fastest-growing firms at the Career Development Office's Career Fair on October 30. Participating companies came to Mita Hall from the news service, PR, investment banking, hotel management, chemical/pharmaceutical, IT and consulting industries. They expressed strong interest in TUJ students for entry-level positions and internships. The next TUJ Career Fair is set for March 12, 2008. The Career Development Office welcomes inquiries from TUJ alumni looking to hire young talent with bilingual skills or to participate in future career fairs. TUJ alumni are also welcome to attend the event. For more information, send an email to: career@tuj.temple.edu.

TUJ Thanks Sumitomo Chemical for Solid Support

Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. has been a stalwart supporter of TUJ for many years, extensively utilizing Corporate Education (CE) training programs, sending promising managers to the school's MBA Program, and participating in the TUJ Career Fair. On November 21, the CE Program hosted a reception at the Tokyo American Club to show the company its appreciation. Nearly 40 people attended, including several Sumitomo executives and TUJ faculty and senior staff. A special showing of TUJ's new 16-minute promotional video gave guests a better understanding of TUJ's unique style of education. Sumitomo representatives also received various TUJ gifts in recognition of Sumitomo and TUJ's close relationship.
