Technology in Action
Smart Classrooms
An important aspect of the TUJ program is its innovative use of technology as a tool for learning. TUJ does not offer online classes or degrees, however, we do use technology to support and enhance classroom and team learning.
Some classes require laptop computers. All students will be provided with e-mail addresses (yourname@temple.edu) and are expected to check messages regularly for announcements and updates.
Digital Access
Blackboard

Blackboard, a web-based platform for managing calendars, course material, and communications, is used extensively throughout the program. Our smart classrooms ensure Internet connectivity from every desk. Students have access to the on-line Temple University Library database, including Lexis-Nexis, Business Source Premier, and FIS (formerly Moody's)
Many Temple University faculty use Blackboard to distribute course materials and to conduct a variety of classroom activities. Through Blackboard, you can retrieve and submit assignments, participate in discussion groups, take tests online, and use optional features such as the calendar and address book.
TUportal
TUportal is your single sign-on gateway to Temple's online services including the Blackboard Course Management System, TUmail, and the Philadelphia-based library database.
TUportal also contains:
- timely announcements from the University
- a list of useful University-related links (TUlinks)
- a customizable section called My Portal that enables you to select from a list of predefined modules, such as a dictionary, thesaurus, and headlines from CNN and The New York Times.
Mediasite
All classes are recorded on Mediasite lecture capture system so that students can download and review them afterward. Immediately following the class, a digital recording is available through a secure website.
