Basu, Sudipta, Ph. D.
Accounting
Associate Professor, Temple University
Dr. Sudipta Basu is an Associate Professor of Accounting. He holds a Ph.D. from University of Rochester and is a leading researcher in the area of capital markets. His current research focuses on the determinants of earnings forecasts and reports and on the origins of accounting. He serves on the editorial boards of numerous accounting journals. Dr. Basu joined the Fox School faculty in 2007.

Bognanno, Michael L., Ph.D.
Economics
Associate Professor, Temple University
Dr. Bognanno was part of the original team that initiated the Executive MBA Program in Tokyo and other successful new programs at TUJ. He was awarded a Marie Currie Grant for the Transfer of Knowledge by the European Union in 2005 and was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) during this time. Dr. Bognanno's research focuses on pay, promotion and incentives. Three of his articles were selected for being among the best in their fields and were re-published in the International Library of Critical Writings in Economics.

Daerr-Bannon, Kathleen
Legal

Professor Daerr-Bannon has over twenty-five years of experience as an attorney in civil litigation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). She has served both nationwide and in London as a commercial arbitrator and mediator in numerous cases, including class actions, and has taught business ethics and ADR at TUJ. She speaks and writes frequently in the legal community, focusing on issues of settlement, negotiation, arbitration and mediation, class actions, employment and legal ethics.

Gershon, Mark E., Ph.D.

Professor and Chair, Temple University
Dr. Gershon is a professor of Marketing and Supply Chain Management. He began his career as a quality engineer with the Project Management office at the Army's Armaments Development Command. He then worked as a project manager for Control Data Corporation, responsible for software development applications and consulting projects for the minerals industry, before joining Temple in 1983. Besides earning a Professional Engineer's license, he holds certification as a Project Management Professional and a Six Sigma Master Black Belt.

Dr. Hochner has been a valuable member of the Fox School's faculty since 1978, after he received his Ph.D. from Harvard University. Over two thousand BBA, MBA and EMBA students have benefited from his courses on power and negotiation, which rely on student participation in experiential exercises. Professor Hochner brings unique insight and perspective to the classroom. He has over 20 years of hands-on union-management negotiation experience as president and chief negotiator for the Temple Association of University Professionals, representing over 1,200 full-time faculty and staff at Temple. In 2008, he and colleagues Dr. Deanna Geddes and Dr. Stuart Schmidt published the third edition of their text, Power and Negotiations in Organizations (Kendall Hunt).

Hodge, Samuel D., Ph.D.

Professor and Chair, Temple University
Dr. Hodge, a Temple Law School graduate, is Chair of the Legal Studies Department and serves as the Director of the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning. In addition to his various law teachings, he teaches anatomy at Temple Law School and is a nationally recognized expert in medical/legal matters. In addition to his teaching at TUJ, he has taught international law in Rome and Paris. Professor Hodge has been awarded a number of teaching honors including the Temple University Great Teacher Award and he has been designated as a Master Teacher by the American Academy of Legal Studies. He recently received the University's Stauffer Award for Outstanding Faculty Service. His research focuses on medicine and trauma, and he has published over 90 articles on the medical/legal aspects of personal injury claims. His most recent book, "Anatomy for Litigators" received the 2007 Award for Outstanding Legal Publication.

Iglewicz, Boris, Ph.D.

Dr. Iglewicz is the Director of the Biostatistics Research Center and Professor of Statistics at Temple University. In the past, he has served as an Advanced Research Fellow and Visiting Professor at Harvard University. Dr. Iglewicz has published over 50 refereed papers, books, and chapters in books. He has been recognized by the American Statistical Association as a Fellow, was a recipient of the W. J. Youden Award, SPAIG Award, Don Owen Award, and Chapter Recognition Award. His publications have been referenced in leading advanced texts on clinical trials, distribution theory, multivariate analysis, outlier detection, quality improvement, regression, sequential analysis, survival analysis, and robust methods. Professor Iglewicz especially enjoys teaching students with the diverse backgrounds found at TUJ.

Kono, Pedro, Ph.D.

Adjunct Professor, Temple University
Pedro M. Kono is an Adjunct Professor of Finance at Temple and Pepperdine Universities. He holds a doctoral degree in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University and worked more than 30 years for Citigroup managing strategic planning, structured financing, and asset based finance internationally. Dr. Kono is married, with two children and two grandchildren. He has lived in Brazil, Japan, and United States and is the President and CEO of Key Financing Solutions LLC, a company providing consulting services in corporate finance and personal investments.

Kotabe, Masaaki, Ph.D.
General and Strategic Management
Professor, Temple University
Dr. Masaaki ‘Mike’ Kotabe is a Professor of General and Strategic Management. He holds Ph.D. from Michigan State University and is the Washburn Chair Professor of International Business and Marketing and Director of Research, the Institute of Global Management Studies. He currently serves as the Editor of the Journal of International Management.
Prior to joining Temple University in 1998, he was Ambassador Edward Clark Centennial Endowed Fellow and Professor of Marketing and International Business at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Kotabe served as the Vice President of the Academy of International Business in 1997-98. He was also elected a Fellow of the Academy of International Business for his significant contribution to international business research and education in 1998.
Dr. Kotabe has written more than 100 scholarly publications, including the following books, Global Sourcing Strategy: R & D, Manufacturing, Marketing Interfaces (1992), Anticompetitive Practices in Japan (1996), Market Revolution in Latin America: Beyond Mexico (2001), Global Supply Chain Management (2006), and Global Marketing Management, 5th ed. (2010).

Michael Leeds earned his Ph.D. in Economics at Princeton University and is a Professor of Economics Department at Temple University. From 2007-2009 he has served as Assistant Dean and EMBA Director at TUJ. Michael has published widely in the areas of labor economics, applied microeconomics, and the economics of sports. He is coauthor of The Economics of Sports, the first textbook to deal with the field of sports economics.

Lippert, Stefan, Ph.D.

Associate Professor, Temple University, Japan Campus
Dr. Stefan Lippert is an Associate Professor in International Business Studies. He teaches MBA, Undergraduate and Executive Education courses in corporate strategy and international marketing. His current reserach interests include the internationalization of service firms and SMEs, especially the “Hidden Champions”, and the global integration of Japanese/Asian firms. In his consulting work, Dr. Lippert advises Japanese and international companies primarily on matters of strategy, marketing, organizational transformation and cross-border M&A. He was the Managing Partner Japan of Simon-Kucher & Partners, a global strategy & marketing consulting firm. Prior to joining Simon-Kucher, Dr. Lippert worked with McKinsey & Company.
Murphy, Frederic, Ph.D.

Dr. Murphy has been teaching and practicing management science/operations research for over 30 years. Prior to coming to Temple University, he worked for the Energy Information Administration at the U.S. Department of Energy, forecasting and analyzing policy impacts on energy markets. He has continued working with the Energy Information Administration on modeling and developing solution algorithms for the major energy sectors in the National Energy Modeling System. His research areas include computing large-scale economic equilibria, understanding market power in electricity restructuring, and using market models to develop business strategies for commodity industries. His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, US Department of Energy, and Shell and Amoco oil companies. He was also a recipient of the Musser Award for research.

Dr. Portwood currently serves as the Director of Temple's Center for European Studies, and since 1990, he has been an adjunct Professor of Management at the Graduate School of Business, Central European University in Budapest, Hungary. As a Fulbright Fellow, he has led several projects promoting economic and social transformation in Eastern Europe. He is an active scholar in the areas of International Human Resource Management, Global Change, and the Human Side of Organizational Transitions. His current interests include tracking international labor market trends, especially the increasing use of contingent workers, and the impact of Eastern Europe economic transitions on career opportunities for native and foreign professionals

Dr. Press is an Associate Professor of Accounting at Temple University, where he has taught since 1992. Before that, he was a member of the faculties at Duke, the State University of New York at Buffalo, and Western Washington University. His research explores how accounting numbers are used in lending agreements, the relation between accounting and economic income, and the connection between earnings management and insider trading. He previously served on the SEC Regulations Committee of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and on the Editorial Board of The Accounting Review.

Jonathan A. Scott, Ph.D. is an associate professor of finance at the Fox School of Business and an adjunct scholar with the National Federation of Independent Business Research Foundation. His research focuses on small business access to credit markets, with publications in the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Money Credit and Banking, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Small Business Management, and Financial Review. Dr. Scott has received numerous teaching awards at Temple, most recently the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation Distinguished Teaching Award in April, 2008.

Sinha, Indrajit, Ph.D.

Associate Professor, Temple University
Dr. Sinha joined the Fox School in 1996 where he presently is an Associate Professor of Marketing as well as the Washburn Research Fellow. His research interests are in branding and pricing, including such areas as managing customer value and loyalty, understanding brands, marketing of high-tech products, and the role of the Internet on all these topics. He has authored a new practitioner book entitled Reverse Psychology Marketing (Palgrave MacMillan Press, 2007). He has taught and lectured at business schools worldwide including the Columbia Business School (NY), ESCP-EAP (Paris), and the HKUST (Hong Kong). He has taught the core EMBA marketing course at TUJ over a period of eight years.

Swanson, Charles, Ph.D.
Economics

Dr. Swanson's work is primarily in macroeconomics and monetary theory. He has published papers on economic growth and business cycles. His current research focuses on the causes of business cycles and the relationships between business cycles and petroleum prices, asset prices and productivity. In addition, he is completing work on bank regulations and capital requirements.

Professor Valenza joined the Fox School in 1981, after having been engaged as a litigator in complex civil matters in the Philadelphia area and also serving as associate corporate counsel for Philadelphia (now Independence) Blue Cross. In addition to a law degree, Professor Valenza holds a Master's Degree in International Relations with a concentration in international economics and has pursued post-graduate education in estate planning. His research activities include such diverse areas as institutional liability issues, employer liability, international business liability issues, and real estate.

Dr. Weinberg has over 25 years of experience running IS for large organizations in the U.S. and abroad. As senior vice president of CIGNA, he was responsible for the technology component of its e-commerce strategy. Prior assignments included Senior Vice President of Managed Care Systems and Vice President of International Life and Group Systems. Dr. Weinberg was Vice President of Healthcare Administrative Systems at Aetna, Inc. and also managed technology support for an online computer services company.

Wilcox, Jean, Ph.D.

Jean Wilcox is an Adjunct Professor of Marketing at Temple University. She holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Chicago and began her career at Xerox, where she held several technical positions before moving into marketing and business development roles. Jean has over 25 years experience working in the international business arena. Dr. Wilcox is a founding partner in Nenko Advisors International, LLC a management consulting firm that assists companies be successful when expanding in the global market.

Dr. Yoo studies the changes and innovations in architecture, construction and engineering industry. He is currently interested in the role of design in reshaping management language and education. His work was published at leading academic journals such as Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Organization Science, and Information Systems Management.
He is a senior editor of the Journal of Strategic Information Systems, an associate editor of Information Systems Research and on the editorial board of Organization Science, Information and Organization, and Journal of AIS. He has received over $1 million in research grants from National Science Foundation, NASA and Korea Science.
