Internships
Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ) offers unpaid summer and other internships for non-TUJ students (undergraduate and graduate) in June and July or during other months. Interns can work as research associates with faculty members, help organize conferences, or work on special projects with TUJ administrators. In past years, interns have worked on organizing a major academic symposium, assisted faculty in the work in art history, nation-branding, and Chinese immigration, and co-written articles.
Since our internships are unpaid, we are open to part-time options, as long as interns can commit to spending at least 50% of their time at TUJ. For students who have their own research project, such as writing a senior thesis, we can devise a program where that suits their interests while contributing to the research activities of TUJ faculty.
TUJ encourages interns to take advantage of their time in Tokyo by attending conferences and other cultural events. We also organize luncheons and dinners for the interns and they can also participate in tours and other activities which TUJ sponsors for its own students during its session.
Some positions require mastery of the Japanese languages but others are open to students with no knowledge of Japanese. In some cases, TUJ may be able to provide free housing in its dorms.
