Q1. Who can attend TUJ's June 2010 Graduation Ceremony?

Students who may participate in the June 2010 Graduation Ceremony must belong to one of the following student populations.

  • Students who completed all coursework in August 2009 or January 2010 and received their diploma.
  • Students who will be completing all remaining coursework in Spring 2010 and who applied to graduate in May 2010.

An eligible graduate must have received from TUJ an official invitation letter to the ceremony by March 19th and is requested to register either online or by faxing back the form. (Except for the TESOL graduates. Please contact the program coordinator for details.)

Q2. I am eligible. Where do I go when?

The ceremony and the cocktail reception take place at the Prince Hall in the Shinagawa Prince Hotel Annex Tower. The registration desk on 5F opens at 12:00 noon. All graduates please arrive no later than 12:30. The ceremony starts at 14:30. See timetable for what you do between 12:30 and 14:30.

Note there are three Prince hotels in the area and there are several buildings within the Shinagawa Prince hotel ground. It can be pretty confusing, so please arrive early just in case you get lost!!! Maps and directions are available here .

Q3. What do I wear?

You are requested to dress academic regalia (a cap, a gown and if you are receiving an advanced degree, a hood). The vendor, Yanks, offered special price for TUJ. For more details, please refer to the regalia purchase information.

Q4. Will I receive my diploma at the ceremony?

(For May 2010 graduates)

No. The President will formally confer the degree candidates with their respective degrees at the ceremony. You will be receiving a diploma case on stage, and the actual diploma will be sent to you in the mail approximately six weeks after the ceremony.

Q5. How long does the ceremony last?

The general graduation ceremony is approximately two hours (14:30-16:30). See the timetable here.

Q6. Do I need admission ticket? Can I bring guests?

There is no admission ticket. An eligible graduate must have received an official invitation letter from TUJ and registered online or faxed back the registration form. Each eligible graduate can bring up to two guests. Seating is available on a first-come-first-serve basis for guests.

Q7. Is there any individual School/College graduation ceremony?

There will be no separate ceremony for individual school/college at TUJ. Please ask your program coordinator for other related events. Note there will be a cocktail reception from 16:30 immediately following the ceremony.
