As Japan is faced with confronting the aging society issue ahead of the rest of the world, the products and services developed in Japan are likely to be the source of export industries and/or new ideas for marketers in other countries. The number and array of products and services on offer or under development is staggering, reinforcing how enormous the issue is and the business opportunities presented thereby. They range from housing remodeling, Alzheimer’s treatments, brain wave control of wheelchairs, ophthalmologic equipment for age-related eyesight issues, high tech toilets, new services that help stroke victims recover almost full capacity, specialized foods for the aged, long distance medical care by telemedicine, digital nursing homes, in-home monitoring, robotics, non-slip drinking cups for the aged, tourism packages, wireless connection to gravesites, and so on.

Speaker Profile

Mr. William Hall has more than 35 year’s experience in business in Japan , having served as President of the Japan subsidiaries of two Fortune 500 companies, as well as having worked in market research and consulting. An Australian national, he serves on a number of government advisory panels, and is a consultant to multinational corporations. Mr. Hall has served as Chairman of PharmaDelegates, Chairman of the Australian and New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ANZCCJ) and Chairman of Japan Market Expansion Competition (JMEC). He is author of "Going for Silver: Opportunities in Japan’s Graying Market" and numerous professional papers. His presentations are known for being both educational and insightful, but at the same time tinged with humor and an occasional politically-incorrect aside. He has not spoken at an ACCJ event for a number of years and his previous ACCJ presentations were all sold-out affairs so this is a rare opportunity to hear the views of one of the leading Western experts in the field.
