Temple University School of Law offers the only year-round law program in Japan accredited by the American Bar Association. You may obtain a master of laws degree (LL.M.) or continue your legal studies in our certificate or take a course or two as an auditing student. Expert professors and attorneys with international experience teach practical and unique courses in U.S., international and comparative law with real-world applications.

Real World. Real Law.

Since most law students are working professionals, the majority of classes are held on weekday evenings. Every spring semester, J.D. students from various American law schools participate in Temple Law's Japan program, creating a strong U.S. law school atmosphere. Our popular "International Contract Drafting" and "East/West Negotiation" classes facilitate fertile exchanges of ideas and professional friendships.

Cutting-Edge Legal Education

Temple Law School keeps you abreast of changing legal issues in business and society. In addition to basic law courses on topics including property and contracts that are tested on U.S. bar exams, you can pursue specialized courses such as cyber-law and intellectual property law. The international law courses offered range from an introductory course to more specialized ones on business, finance, human rights and other topics.

Earn an LL.M. Degree or Certificates

If you hold an LL.B. or equivalent law degree, you can obtain an LL.M. degree from Temple University School of Law by taking 24 credits. You may complete up to 18 credits in Tokyo and a minimum of 6 credits at Temple's main campus in Philadelphia or at the Rome campus. You may take the latter during the seven-week summer program in Philadelphia or the five-week summer program in Rome.

If you do not hold a law degree, you can earn a certificate in international law or American legal studies by taking 12 credits, or simply audit courses.
