Legal Translation Skills (LTS101)

- Eligibility for this course is subject to instructor's approval. A small piece of text to be translated (approximately 150 words) will be provided to applicants via email. The translated text should be sent back by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or faxed to 03-5441-9811). Students who have already completed one of the Continuing Education department's translation courses (JSL401, BTS101, or LTS101) are not required to take the translation test for enrollment.
- Tokyo (Maps & Directions)
This is an introductory course which aims to help students develop strategies for translating between legal English and Japanese. The course content will include specialized legal terminology and related linguistic structures to help prepare students for the translation of legal text and documents from Japanese into English. Different types of legal documents will be provided for students to practice their translation skills.
Please note that this course is not suitable for those seeking to gain expertise about the legal system. Rather, this course is for those who would like to develop their translation skills, using various types of legal documents that professional translators normally handle.
