The main focus of the course will be oral communicative Chinese as well as to introduce students to basic Chinese language grammatical system and a set of vocabulary generally recognized as useful in Chinese communication. It develops learners' communicative competence from general description of events to specific descriptions, from sentence to discourse with contexts, from simple expressions to some complex structures. It also gives students a grasp of China's business environment and provides a basic knowledge of business Chinese and business techniques that, hopefully, will heighten business success in China.
The course uses different materials and works on different topics every semester and thus is repeatable.
Min Lu was born in Shanghai and is fluent in Chinese, Japanese and English. She is an expert in the area of Second Language Acquisition. She teaches Mandarin Chinese for Beginners, Advanced Beginners and for Intermediate level students. She started teaching in the Continuing Education Program from Spring 2004 and currently working as an Administrative Director of TUJ's Graduate College of Education as well.
At Temple University she graduated with her M.Ed in TESOL, and also received her BA in College of Liberal Arts with a Major in Communication and Mass Media and minor in Asian Studies. She is interested in studying Chinese traditional medicine, singing, reading, and cooking.
