Barriers in international business are beyond language; and in contract negotiation, one needs to understand that there are hidden risks in every transaction that we can avoid. What is common and accepted for a professional from one country could be very different overseas. This course offers an introduction into the difficulties export and import companies (marketing managers and legal counsels) encounter when they have to establish commercial relationships with foreign counterparts.

In this course, we will study techniques of "conflict screening" and analyze case studies and agreements between clients from different parts of the world. By the end of the course, students should be able to understand the structure and content of international business contracts, identify and revise key issues to avoid disputes and, above all, achieve the economic objectives of the contracts in a globalized business environment.
