Course Details

This course aims to provide students the fundamentals of doing a complete compensation analysis. In learning to conduct this analysis, students will be able to identify best practices for collecting the information needed from various sources (e.g., internal documents, key individuals, external sources, etc.) and learn to recognize the elements of direct and indirect compensation, job evaluation methods, and the elements of job analysis for compensation. In addition, students will be able to identify the pros and cons of merit and variable pay plans as well as considerations affecting revisions to internal structure. At the end of this course, students will be in a better position to align an organization's compensation plan to the overall business strategy and corporate philosophies and values.

Please note case studies may need to be purchased from the Continuing Education Office during the semester. Please confirm this with your instructor at the beginning of the course.
