Preparation for TOEIC Speaking & Writing Tests (5 Weeks) (TOE202-S)
This course is designed to assist students in preparing for the new TOEIC Speaking and Writing Test. The course will focus on providing students strategies and practice in creating, organizing, and presenting oral and written responses to this new Internet-based assessment and evaluation of students' communicative English ability. Students will practice presenting their opinions, feelings, ideas, and experiences clearly and concisely. Students will also complete weekly oral and written assignments, receive feedback on their work from the instructor and classmates.
This course will run on the following five Saturdays in Summer 2018: 6/30, 7/7, 7/14, 7/21 and 7/28
Derek Canning has been teaching in the Tokyo area for more than ten years and has worked in a wide variety of educational contexts. He holds a M.S.Ed in TESOL from Temple University and a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Calgary, Canada. His professional interests include teaching English to young learners, teaching reading and writing, and vocabulary acquisition. Derek is currently outlining a research project in evaluating structured and impromptu dialogues. When not teaching or studying, he enjoys hiking and traditional world music.
