Mastering the art of writing, whether for academic purposes or for on- the-job assignments takes time and requires lots of practice. This intermediate English writing course is for those who need to hone their writing skills for whatever complex writing task is required of them and in whatever role they are in. The course will cover practice in a variety of writing forms and formats applicable to both academic or professional settings and situations. Students will be expected to write, write and write -- keeping focused on the ultimate goal of mastering the most difficult skill in learning any language.
This course covers the same curriculum as GEW101 using an online format.
Dawn Lavelle Miyazaki
Dawn Lavelle Miyazaki holds dual master degrees in both TESOL and Instructional Design from Teacher's College, Columbia University. She has taught English language courses ranging from beginning conversation to advanced academic writing courses in Tokyo and New York City. In addition to teaching English courses, she has also been involved in educational technology, adapting the print version of English language materials into a digital format for interactive activities. Dawn has been teaching an advanced writing course online for the last few years. In addition, she has conducted workshops for teachers on ESL techniques in the New York City public school system.
Today, students are exposed to different varieties and levels of English. Therefore, it is important for English learners to be able to access information and be able to communicate using the style and vocabulary required for today's connected world. Dawn always tries to expose students to a variety of materials and points of view which will help them to communicate more effectively.
