Chaoyi, second from left, with Mr. Gavin Reid, TIJ Controller, and fellow interns.

You can learn many things just from learning about other people's experiences and often they will provide valuable insights that can't be learned by just doing the job.

Student Intern Profile

Name:
Chaoyi Jiang
Country:
U.S.A.
Major:
International Business Studies
Internship at:
Texas Instruments
Duration:
Summer 2014

Q1 Why did you choose to intern at Texas Instruments?

Chaoyi I am interested in the technology industry and wanted to work for a foreign company in Japan, so Texas Instruments (TI) was a good choice for me. They require both English and Japanese in their daily operations, which also made it a good fit with my language abilities.

Q2 What are some of your projects/responsibilities at the internship?

Chaoyi For the first two months, I mainly worked on the macroeconomic update project to make Japan's economic data accessible to TI's global network in an easy to update format. I also did daily accounting work such as inputting journal entries for payments and receipts, and creating payment schedules and payment trends for each month. During the last month, I also worked on expense auditing for business trips and events.

Q3 What have you learned from the internship?

Chaoyi I learned to always be curious and not be afraid of asking questions and talking to different people. You can learn many things just from learning about other people's experiences and often they will provide valuable insights that can't be learned by just doing the job.

Q4 Would you recommend this internship to other TUJ students?

Chaoyi TI values their internship program and provides many training opportunities for interns to make sure that both the company and the intern benefit from the experience. They also have a very good working environment, and you can easily talk to anyone when you need help.
