Important Notice about the Swine (H1N1) Influenza for Students, Faculty, and Staff
September 2, 2009
The latest information released by WHO at the end of August indicates that the new H1N1 influenza is still spreading around the world.
The new H1N1 influenza is a kind of Type-A influenza and the Japanese government has decided to treat the new influenza in the same way as other seasonal flu. However, they are still cautious and closely monitoring the situation.
For the duration of the Fall semester, there is a possibility that some students may be infected with the new influenza. In that case, there remains the possibility that TUJ may temporarily cancel classes that have a high rate of infected students. There also remains the possibility that, if an overwhelming number of students become infected, the entire institution may be closed for approximately one week. If these extreme measures are taken, we will insure that students will be able to complete their academic work for the semester.
If any emergency measures are taken, they will be announced on this website and by e-mail, so please monitor carefully all communications from the university.
We ask all students, faculty and staff to continue to take extra precautions. If you develop fever or other flu-like symptoms, do not come to the university but see your home doctor or go to a nearest clinic. If there is no clinic near-by or if you choose to recuperate at home, you may consult a health center in your region.
If you are diagnosed as infected by Type-A influenza, in which case it is likely that you are infected by the new H1N1 influenza, please contact TUJ immediately. (0120-86-1026)
