A Message from the President
Temple University is proud to have the only full-scale U.S. university campus in Japan. Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ) is an integral part of Temple, helping the University realize our mission of being a national center of excellence in teaching and research with an international presence.
A strong emphasis on international education is a vital and distinctive aspect of Temple University. Starting with the opening of our Rome campus in 1966 and followed by campuses in London (1969) and Tokyo (1982), we provide undergraduate students with an opportunity to earn course credits in a variety of disciplines while experiencing life in a foreign culture.
TUJ, our largest overseas program, accepts local and foreign students and offers graduate and undergraduate degree programs. TUJ allows Japanese young people to get a U.S.-style education in Japan, helps meet the educational needs of Japan's foreign community, provides American students with an opportunity to live in Japan and study with Japanese students, and contributes to the strengthening of the relationship between the United States and Japan.
