Strategic Plan 2009 Highlights

April 2009

Introduction

TUJ is a unique institution of international higher education whose mission and academic programs are designed to:

  • Attract students from Japan, the US, and other countries
  • Position TUJ, and through it Temple University, as a recognized leader in international education and research
  • Encourage researchers of Japan and Asia to seek affiliations with TUJ
  • Inspire commitment from donors and supporters around the world, especially in Japan and the US
  • Win grant support from government and NPO foundations

A central element of TUJ's mission and strategic plan is to strengthen on-going efforts to provide excellence in international education. Moreover, working with the Main Campus, TUJ will continue to facilitate the development of international programs in Asia, study abroad opportunities for Temple students, and overseas teaching and research opportunities for Temple faculty.

The strategic initiatives outlined below are critical for creating an academic and business model that will accommodate stable operations under present conditions, while simultaneously laying the foundation for future growth, a future move to enhanced facilities, as well as a new sense of vision, commitment, and pride within the entire TUJ community - students, faculty, staff and external supporters.
